We used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit our title sequence. We looked through all the footages we got first. We picked a few best shots from the bins in the project panel and grab them to the timeline. We renamed the footages to ‘Junkyard WIDE’, ‘Junkyard MID’, ‘Junkyard CU’, so it can clearly shows which scene and which shots. We grouped the shots in the same storyline part together. This helps to save a large amount of time on looking for one shot on the timeline. After we finished chosing the footage, we go back to the beginning and start editing. We viewed the shots in the source panel, we used ‘I’ to select the section of the footage we needed. We use ‘+’ to zoom in the timeline, so it is easier for us to edit the first part. We tried different ways of the order of wide shot, mid shot and close up in the first section. While moving around the footages, we remembered not to overlapping the audios of different footages.

We pressed ‘C’ to cut the parts we doesn’t want, and pressed ‘V’ to make the arrow sign return. The cutting tool can make the scene cut to mid shot from close up. We matched the actions while doing the simple cuts. So we use the source panel and the program panel to view the two shots, from the two scenes we can see clearly where to cut. After we did one cut, we looked through and make sure the transition is smooth and unnoticeable. We saved constantly by pressing Ctrl+S to avoid we accidentally lose our work.

After we roughly edited the whole sequence, we press ‘-’ to shorten the timeline and reviewed from the beginning. We found out that the time is nearly 4 minutes which is too long. So we changed the plot line and cut the car parts section off. It is the only part that won’t affect the whole opening. We tried to use other shots, and finally found two shots that can link the two scenes before and after the car parts section smoothly. Moreover, we used cut to delete some gap time in the footages. So then the opening is only 2 and half minutes.

The last step is to add the sound effects and the titles on. We edited the titles in the simplest form and put them around through the whole opening sequence. For the sound, we mostly used the diegetic ambient sound which is the wind sound. And for the motorcycle soundtrack, we found one which is 50 seconds, so we copied some of the parts to make it longer. We used the editing sound panel to do the echo effect which makes the soundtrack more real.
